How to seal a nitro engine

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

VideoSealingEngineIf you are having to pay for your engine AND you are not one of the best tuners around, you will want to do all it takes to prepare an engine before using it. It is normally recommended that you open a brand new engine and check that there are no debris inside the engine that could have been left there from the manufacturing process.

While you have it opened, you may as well prepare to seal it. This video by the guys at R/C Car Magazine shows you how to do that. It is actually an entertaining video as well and even includes an outtake of bloopers!

LOL, I agree Doc! I did think they pooped too much stuff on the carb and the backplate but the video was cheeky and funny. Plus this commenting system will be VERY useful to capture everyone's thoughts on the subject for rookies to digest. smilies/wink.gif

The blooper part is actually the best. With modern o-ring sealing and tight tolerances, sealing is normally not required anymore. But probably no harm will be done as long as you don't overdo the application of sealant smilies/cheesy.gif
